I paid 6300 for mine on 55 plate with just under 70k. full test n tax. Its got 5 speed better gearbox. interior isnt as good as others but its good enough for me and simple mods can get to 360 bhp easily. look at stage one sticky on here.

I have an 05 evo 8 260, bought it standard and now running 315bhp with 301lb/ft torque, I was in the same boat didnt have the money and couldn't get insured on the 320, 360, etc

Doesn't take much work to free up the power check my project thread in the picture gallery for some pics and a description :)

All in all tho there's nothin wrong with them and the 5 speed is more liveable and better around town :)

In terms of getting it up to 360, that's not the problem, it's got the same engine as the other cars. It has two cats (over the normal one),but a replacement exhaust, uprated fuel pump and re-map will easily see 360 just like any other evo (you should get about 380 though). The issue is everything else...the FQs are just better spec'd, xenon lights etc. The FQs 6sp is also better in terms of it is faster A to B and also gives better MPG on the motorway so it's a win-win. It's not as strong as the 5sp, but that doesn't mean it's weak...most people have no issues at all with their 6sp (myself included),especially at the power levels you are looking at, but there will always be some people who have had issues.

If a 260 is all you can stretch to then fair enough, but I just want to highlight that it's not about the power, it's the car in general. People with 260s always come back on the 5sp being stronger, and how it has the same rods as the MR (or something),but on balance the FQ is the better car. My 6sp VIII had 380 and zero issues with gearboxes, rods, bottom ends or anything of that nature, and that is the normal experience. It was just quicker with its faster box and I could actually see at night :D

I watched one go through BCA auctions in nottingham afew weeks back,2005 05 with 39,000 miles on the clock and it reached £6450 on a provisional bid which they apparently let it sell for!!

Still an Evo at the end of the day and i wouldn't turn one down if the price was right!
