Advice needed. Buying Evo

Hi all Im new here and really need some advice

ive been looking to buy an Evo for quite some while now, and have came across an apparent Evo 8. Everything seemed all good and he wanted to px with my focus st. Anyways I did a reg check and im slightly concerned as when I did it, the Evo is apparently an Evo Vii x import with 276bhp or something. But its had a few mods, including upgraded turbo, intercooler and excedy clutch and the print out for the dyno says 351 bhp.

I told the bloke it was an Evo 7 but he was like no it is an evo 8 fq340 but as its import its registered as anything to get it in the country. He wants around 9500 for the evo. But im sure its a gsr model not a 340 because with them mods on a 340 it would be higher than 351 on the dyno

The reg is WX03 WDF if anyone wants to check or can help me out because I dont want to get shafted if its actually a replica.

should i keep away from this or is it genuine.

ask him for details or a picture of the vin plate.
it certainly "looks" like an 8 to me

Looks like an 8 as stated but if your not happy walk away plenty of good evos out there
Main thing with buying an evo is patience!

What year did they change production from the 7 to the 8? Isnt it just bumpers that are different externally? Easy to change, Nice looking car tho! My mate had a imported astra bertone and it came back as a opel manta?? Ha ha

Sometimes its just a case of it being wrong on paperwork when it's imported

Looks like an 8 Mr
Rear lights and spoiler give it away with the red mr badge too.
7 has bumpers, skirts and bonnett different.
Check the vin against a mitsi database not the reg against dvla. As said imports can be wrong on paper.
Oil changed every 500!!!!
Plaque by gearstick will help tell you aswell.

350 bhp and 400 ftlb would give me concern about the mods and mapping as it's normally the other way round....
