18's are OK, it's when you bigger that you will have issues.

you might struggle fitting 18's anyway. even with 17s you will prob want 215/35/17 tyres.
i run 215/45/17 on my evo 4.5 and the tyres catch the back if i have a passenger in the back.

I forgot that you have a IV buddy.

17's are the absolute maximum that you can go for and even then, you have your work cut out for you, as pointed out by Diccon.

It is not that anything bigger will ruin the handling, it's just that you will struggle to get the car to move at all!!!

i think you would be ok 215/35/17s i notice rsmark has fitted 225/45/17s to his evo4.
i wonder if he has any trouble???

Replied in my thread, get the size you mentioned. I got the cheap tires so if they ripped it wasn't much of a big deal. Plus i used a guide of some crappy lancer register forum. Its full of awful how to guides.
