Moving on from a previous thread...........

I am looking at putting a set of 8 MR cams into my 6 motor, but is there any other stuff required if I am to undertake this mod?

I am assuming that I will need a remap as this is going to be accompanied by a 71 series turbo.

Many Thanks

Remap yes but you should be ok if you drive steady as it is. Get the map done once all parts fitted :)

I'd skip the 71series and go for the 80 instead though :):)

Is there any changes needed in timing Lee or is it just a simple swap?
I understand your advice ref 71 & 80 series but the price difference is quick alot mate :)

Ignition would probably need tweaking but this can only be done by a mapper :)

Mate, you probably won't notice any difference between your standard turbo and a 71series.
Save a bit longer and get the 80 :)

make sure you get the cam sensor pick up and bolt (bolted to the end of the cam) with the cams as they are different to older evo's, No changes to timing just a remap when you get the turbo, I have done this mod to my forge engine cause i have been told they are a very good cam to map!!

Thanks for all the advice chaps.........looks like 80 series gets the vote over 72 series every time!! I know an 80 gets the vote but I don't intend forging or doing a rod job so not sure I'd use an 80 to it's full potential without breaking my engine.

hoo nice, fitted my mr cams to my 6 last month, great cheap modd, if u dont have the bolt of the cam sensor dont worry , u will need a very good 10mm drill bit, must be a very precise opening and if u can find a bolt from a transferbox it fits straight in all u need to do its grind the washer around the head of the bolt until it fits inside the hole and sort it , drop some oil around wen u fit them to be nice and lubrificate for starting and dont drive mad untill u get a remap , alot of people say that with a good map u should see a 20 bhp increase , better response and more torque ... enjoy it

driveability, the MR cams will suit nicely. I'm running 272 cams for the powerband - you can see great results from a stock turbo with a proper map, but your idle will be slightly lumpy but it adds to the effect imo.

I'm waiting to hear from Andy F who originally mapped my car for me to arrange a remap as soon as I get the work done.....I'm sure he will make all the changes needed. :D
Really looking forward to getting the Evo back on the road as this work is only being done as I need a new head gasket so it's just a couple of upgrades while it's stripped.
