4 wont idle when cold

from cold start my 4 struggles to hold idle, but after holding light throttle for about 20-30 seconds idles fine. wondered if it could be a temp sensor? anyone had this problem before? cheers for any help.

I believe it should idle at 1400 until warm then drop to 800. Someone will say if i am wrong.

worth checking the lambda sensor also, does the temp gauge in the dash work?

Should idle at 1400 like youngy-135 and wayne'o have said then drop to around 800-900, could be your idlecontrol sensor starting to play up, see this before on evo iv, you had to give some gas intill it warmed up, but as time went on the idle started to jump around, once cleaned went back to normal.

yea the temp guage on the dash works, i'll stick a meter on the probe see if it's switching ok. chucking out code 23 now, so need to sort that before going back into idle problems. old cars, the joy! lol!
