Hi all
So as above and with the success of the Blyton track day I'm going to start a 2014 Nurburgring trip thread :-D
I have visited the Nurburgring for the last 3 years and to say its epic is an understatement!
After Blyton the gruesome twosome have set me a task to start this thread to build some interest, would be great to get a few evos into Germany and a Nurburgring run!!
This is just an interest thread at the moment, as there is no point in booking anything as the touristenfahrten days don't get released until spring time. When that time comes hopefully the thread will become a place to decide the best dates, and then turn into booking details etc.
Also been asked to give a rough break down of costs, its a rough breakdown and I've probably over priced some of it just so its covered.
The costs are based on my last trip in which me and a mate went in two cars and shared a room. We set sail 7pm Thursday night and arrived back in hull 8am Tuesday morning. Equates to 2 nights on the ferry 3 nights at the Ring/hotel.
Firstly ferry cost from Hull to Rotterdam was £440 (split between two)
That was two cars, two people, one room and we booked a bit late and at a peak time! Big savings can be had by booking as early as possibly and or having two people one car
The ferry is a 12 hour ride overnight, bars and entertainment. It's a great start to the trip.
When you arrive at Rotterdam you have a 220 mile trip to the nurburgring. In my experience this can be done in 1 tank of fuel as its a lot of motorway miles but there's plenty of places to stop and refuel if needed.
Hotel we stayed at Hotel an de Nordschleife
We stayed in one of he new apartment rooms which bed 4 people at £90 a night! So you can split £90 between 4 potentially!
View from the room ;-)
Fuel cost will vary on a few things but if I was to budget a tank of fuel per day £60-£70 per day (probably over budgeted there)
Plenty of this available though
Spends, equates to how lavishly you spend or how tight you are lol, but if I said £50 a day on food and beer wouldn't be too bad.
One of the meals
Lap costs are €26 a lap, sounds a lot but trust me one lap will be enough for most people per day. This last trip I completed 3 laps over the stay but had 5 laps as passenger including one in a 500bhp Noble! The plan was for two laps a day but closures spoilt things a little.
The noble!
Hopefully that gives a decent break down of the costs involved in a trip and get some of you wanted to have a go.
There's a good few who have already been on here and if they want to add feel free, the more info that can be provided the better.
The way to keep costs down is 2 people 1 car, and fill a room with up to 4 people.
Also for people south or way north there are other options of travel to get there, we could just meet at Nurburgring!
A couple of pics of some of a small percentage of beasts I saw
Something I would like to try is going through the week for the evening sessions as the weekends get a bit mental! But plenty of time to sort all that.
So ideally from this thread I would like to gather interest as to better dates or months for people to go. You never know we could get enough people interested to start something a bit special
Get involved and ask anything you like.
Dan.
