I was taken out for a short blast in a 2008 M3 today, with the power button thingy on! I was expecting it to be much quicker. Disappointed. It was a nice car though.

My car apparently might be fast but it's a refrigerator with a big engine! Or so I was told :-0

They're not the quickest! The worst thing on them is the sh** slow gear change using the paddles, saying that the m5 (2007) are the same! :( The m5 is very fast though ;)

Good friend of mine has an E46 M3 (2005 plate) and on a back road the Evo would wipe the floor with the M3, in the wet, the M3 is all over the place with TC off, and with TC on (even M-sport) the ECU kills the power, Evo is just so planted.

From a standing start the Evo is still probably quicker, due to it's traction off the line, but as said above, once over a certain speed the M3 comes into it's own. They are great cars and to be honest, I do want one just for a daily, so comfortable, but for the sheer joy of driving, I still think the Evo wins it, but not by much.

I know two of my good friends with m3 and they both have said they would sit on my ass up to 60 and leave me after that, I said naaa anyways the first one I pushed him up a big hill the same night I sat on his bumper up to high speed (and I had a boost leak) with the leak fixed I walked all over him, he was surprised what my 'jap tin can' could do. The other mate felt the full force the other day and now due to a breakup has to sell his m3 as its part owned and he is looking at an Evo :)
