Car scam - PayPal

Just thought I would share this with you. It's an obvious scam but just be aware. I've currently got my car up for sale and received a text today from someone who wanted to know my bottom price and an email address. Sounded promising so I sent him my email address and received the following email.

Hi thanks for reply, i am a marine engineer, i am at sea right now. I
am buying this for my son as a surprise gift. I can *only pay through
paypal at the moment as i dont have access to my bank account online(i
dont have internet banking with it), but i have it attached to my
paypal account, and this is why i insisted on using paypal to pay,all
i will need is your paypal email address to make the payment, and if
you dont have a paypal account yet, you can set one *it cant take you
less than 3mins to do that, i will be expecting your paypal email so l
can pay. *I have a pick up agent that will come for the pick up after
payment has been sorted, *l will be waiting for your reply

My very polite reply was along the lines of:

Strangely, I have received no more emails.

Yeh one of my mates had the same thing when he was selling his car he thought it was genuine for a while until he started asking questions back and got some weird answers :disgusted:

Was definitely a case of being too good to be true! Who would spend +£10k on a car without even viewing it!

mate of mine had the same when selling his evo. 15k asking price. a fat deposit paid with a fake paypal email and remainder to be paid once car has been collected.

checked paypal account and balance was £0 so told the guy to go UC himself

I actually get stuff like this at work (hotel) all the time. People wanting to book 3 rooms and pay with credit card and also pay us for the translator for the guests, we are then supposed to pay the translator in cash. FLOL!!
