My Car says 95 and above on the fuel filler cap so I change between v power and normal depending on the prices, v power is like 11p more at the mo so I use the normal stuff

Use V power or Tesco's unless its mapped for 95. The std ecu cannot cope with 95 on boost well, i'd revert straight away as you don't know what damage it can be doing.

To the OP - stick super unleaded in, even 97RON stuff will do as the ECU can cope with that. It doesn't matter which one it is, Shell, BP, Tesco momentum, Esso etc as long as its super unleaded as the Japanese use 99 RON's as a normal fuel and their super is something like 102RON. If i'm honest? most evo owners put in V-power, but due to the location of my nearest shell garage, my car is mapped and runs on Tesco momentum. Plus if i buy over £40 of shopping, i get 5p off a litre at the pump WIN

Also - don't be confused between the american RON system and the European's as its different.

couldnt of put it better myself Steve..spot on and good advice that alot of people take for granted...IF I cant use V-power or Tesco Momentum then I will use a 97 RON and dont give it any stick till i can get some V-power in her

and that standard map is for 97 RON MIN I heard a rumour from a Shell employee (but it may be just a rumour from a spotty youth) that shell will have V-Power up at 100 RON soon.....just behave and put decent fuel in ya monkey ! :whistling:

Then you're playing with a ticking time bomb whilst putting in 95ron fuel and gunning it, the ecu can't sort the timing that far to prevent knock.

Plus it's not the Ron that matters it's an additive in the fuel that is an anti knock additive it's all on bp's web site

But for the sake of a couple of quid a tank is it not worth it? When higher ron fuel burns cleaner and usually returns better consumption. I've tried different fuel in a few different cars and usually the extra mileage compensates for the extra cost.

Not standard once its been mapped the fuelling is changed and its mapped on what you put in...as you know after your last mapping trip ya ucking doughnut !!! LMAO :blush: ESSO ! youre a legend mate !

maybe a standard car from factory is ok....but look inside your fuel cap and see what it says !

As i said at the start the car will run its best and safest on the fuel it was mapped on. End of
