Im thinking about switching jobs..goning into the industry..they pay loads more for less work..but im scared about job security..ive been in the same job for 12 years and my job is safe there, but doesnt pay enough-well not enough compared to the industry..and theyre looking for people now too!!

its a longer drive, shift work..but pays a hel of alot more!! what to do!!!

I'm in same boat but in self employed way. Selling my current business is sold with our accommodation to putting a deposit on a house and new business venture. I'm bricking it. The wife can't wait but she don't realise the economic stress I will have while she will be full time mum

Best of luck on your first day. I often contemplate shifting to the civilian side of my job, if i did, i'd be on twice as much without the rest of the crap that goes with it but i'm not sure of security and job satisfaction.

Good luck to all of us for being brave and taking that leap. Otherwise it will be what if I did etc. at least If it goes well we can say thank god we did or in the event it doesn't (god forbid) we can say we tried.

I changed job about 6 months ago. Best thing I ever done! Same as you guys my last job was secure but you have to take risks to get anywhere in life, and so far it's paying of!

Good luck!

Pretty much. I do love my job, i just hate the bullshit that comes with it and the egotistical wankers i sometimes work with who have a god complex. Ah well, fire with fire and all that. pip pip

I have worked for same company for 17 years now and for years I been saying that's it I'm not spending another winter out on site. But guess what, it's still bloody cold out there lol :)
