Thread lock - What to get?

Hi all,
Just a quick one.

As you know been removing the manifold on my IX. Some of the threads have come out attached to the nuts as very rusty, not broken off fortunately. I may order some replacement OEM stud or if I can get the bolts off the old ones re-use.

Was just wondering which thread lock people recommend as I guess would need one strong enough but also should anyone (or me) want to remove the studs later could still do so.

I've seen halfords sell loctite 458 (i think thats what its call). Will this be OK or can anyone recommend what I should use.

If the threads have gone you would be better putting new studs in mate.

You will find it will save you a lot of grief in the future.

Even if I get new studs, which I am considering I'll still need to threadlock them in place I would have thought?

Threads havent gone, they look in good condition to be, they havent broken just the nuts was so rusted on it took the whole bolt out on 2 of them!

Sorry i misunderstood your first post , i thought you had taken the bolts off and it had left threads on the stud or you had taken the stud out of the head and got threads on the stud.
Ask at a motor factors tell them what it's for and they should point you in the best direction.
Maybe an idea to put new studs in anyway, seeing that the manifold is off now.

ive never used or will not be using on sunday thread lock on manifold studs purely because of the temp the head and manifold get plus never seen the reason too:thinking:

you have to use thread lock or simular on an evo cos otherwise oil will leak through from the oilways

some kind of oil resistant sealer will do
