It's probably just an aftermarket exhaust gas temp sensor cos the lamda sensor is up by the turbo :)

most aftermarket decat pipes come with a boss to fit a lamda probe but this is purly for mapping purposes. the cars only got one lamda and its fitted into the turbo elbow which is before the downpipe and way before the cat. as long as your cat is fitted then youll be fine.
also some stations will turn a blind eye to emissions testing evos and other tuned cars as the law states emissions is only at time of test anyway :)

here is a pic of a evo lamda

You won't need the cat on a 4 anyway. Theyre not type approved and vosa dont hold any emissions data for them so they should be tested as non cats.

Thats changed. They are now tested on the base figure, cat fitted.

Fair enough. I didnt know it had changed.
Do they now go off the production date wether it should have a cat fitted then?

Anything after 1994 gets checked and as of next year, it must also have the cat present in the exhaust system.
