EVO 8/9 tech

hi everyone, i'm new to this site as i don't yet own an evo :-(
but after x-mas i'm upradding from my tuned cooper S to an evo 8/9

i will be getting an FQ 300 at very least

and was just wandering is there any faults click nocks etc to look out for on the above!!

also what, if any, is the difference between the 8 & 9 evo's or is it just new reg???


look forward to hearing from the people in the know!

Nothing unusal,
Just service history, turbos, smoke, ayc, tyres, shut lines. The normal stuff you would check on a high performance car...

bit clueless there matey could you illaberate for me & how would i noticee it on a test drive???
smoke?? could that be due to wear on the pistons??
ayc is that active yaw control?? and what does that actually do lol!???

new to this stuff!

Shut lines is the gap between the panels when shut. Like doors and bonnet to wings etc. They should be uniform.
Smoke could come from oil or water. If the car hasnt been run at all you can expect some initial white smoke which will be water going. But more sustained white smoke is water. Grey smoke is oil (piston rings, turbo etc) and black is fuel (an occasional little bit on over run is nothing bad of a tuned car).
