Dont know if there are any aircraft enthusists out there but took these at Duxford this year. Sadly the P51 Beautifull Doll crash the dat after i took these.

Very nice. If I had the money too. I would have the iconic spitfire because they are cool. A Halifax bomber as that's what my grandad served in as rear gunner, and a Lancaster as its a mad machine.

The Lanc was there and flew, What an aircraft, shame the Halifax does,nt get the same press as the Lanc, as too with the hurricane .

Yh true, as far as some are prob aware there was only 2 or 3 aircrafts lol. I was on my way up to my dads a few years back and stopped to make a call and a Lancaster was flying over head sounded awsome like a convoy of mustangs with wings

Not surprised as most P51's still flying today have RR Merlin's in them. The Lancaster has 4.

I'm going to sound like a spotter, but were you at Duxford?

havent been to duxford for years and keep meaning to go, see they have a catalina now. If i had the money and a big enough house id have a p51, a f16, and maybe a mosquito for personal reasons.

Yer went to Duxford this year it was the Warbird show , Didnt see the Cat though.
P47 didnt fly so was a bit disapointed, Being a spotter not too bad with the old warbirds
Mosquito yes defo for me to.
Sad it crashed, it was the one that starred in Operation Crossbow (bloomin heck i sound like an anorack now :blush: ) Believe there is one airworthy in Canada and one due to fly soon. Oh the Griffon spity sounded awesome

Lovely pics, taken at an awesome place. I've always had an interest in WW2 aircraft, ever since I was a kid, and watched the film 'Memphis Belle', when it first came out.

As for what I'd buy if I had the money - I'm not sure. I love the Spitfire (mk1), for obvious reasons, although I always preferred the Hurricane growing up. A B-17 would be right up there as well, as would a P-51.

A couple of 'different' planes, that I always liked were the Defiant, and the Typhoon. There's only one complete survivor of each though, so I doubt I'll ever be able to have one of them!
