Hi all,
I am about to take the step into Evo ownership !!
Being from the tuning scene now for far too many years !! I have always wanted an Evo, but always decided on something different when it came to the crunch !
I’m looking for a weekend / track car and thought the best option would be an evo for the fun factor.
I have £10k for the car, for which I want a low mileage version with the most amount of tuning equipment attached !!
After reading loads could I ask for some help from the group:
1) The FQ 260, there are many which have been tuned to around 350 + but could you let me know if the 5 speed box is the worst option ? Is there much different from AYC to SAYC ?? Am I being stupid picking items which don’t really give much to the end driving experience ? Or is there a difference ?
2) Is it better to start with an 260, 300, 320 or 340 ? as there are some standard cars which are nice, but I was really looking for something which had already had some goodies on it ? so a standard 340 or a 260 tuned to 400 ?
3) Evo 8 or Evo 9 ?? I have seen some evo 8’s with the evo 9 interior, but what would you say the best model is ?? There is not much difference so I’ve read and I can get either for the money !!
Anything to look for apart from the service history ? is there any spots on the car which I need to pay attention too ?
I am viewing two cars today, one red evo 8 with 330 bhp, but it is super clean and the other another evo 8 with 421bhp but a little tatty for my liking, both have evo 9 interior and both started out as a FQ260.
Looking on autotrader there is a blue evo 9 340 which I could get also but a bit of a drive away to view !!
Please help with my questions as I am in a bit of a pickle and don’t want to buy a lemon !!
Track day people could you let me know what are the best days out, locations etc and I’ll see you there in a few weeks !!
Thanks guys and i look forward to meeting some of you soon !!
