thanking you this is very useful info... so a V, VI etc can be straight mapped and a direct replacement for the old one?

What is the button next to the handbrake used for??? it has what looks like a radiator with water jets on it?

right, i have got the new gear linkages I was after... I have took the old ones out and put the new ones in!!!
Now the problem I have is the cable that controls the left to right movement of the gear stick seems too long on both the new and old cable.... It is like the lever arm on the box is bent or something... I don't get what is wrong??
Maybe some one has had similar problems it looks like it could be something so simple but because I haven't got any pics of a working set of linkages in location I have nothing to compare to..

yes will do later if i can get down the workshop???

other thing is I have quite a big puddle of oil on the floor under where the g.box and transfer box join I think???? i wipe it off the bolts at the lowest point and it comes straight back...

It isn't engine oil looks and smells more like gearbox oil? Any ideas?

Check the pipe on top of the transfer box mine cracked when I pulled the engine out and leaked like mad until I repaired it

will do, the clutch was done quite recently on this car so could there be anything in regards to that i should look for i.e like you said cracked pipes

Transfer box off job which involves removing the wheels, disconnecting drive shafts, suspension, using a slide hammer to pull out the output shaft and dropping the transfer box. Gearbox remains in place. Best to replace all 3 seals while you are in there, only £5 for all 3 from camskill.com

When mine leaked it was the big O-ring, not the small one, so order all 3 so you don't drop it to find you don't have the right one.

thanks very much for the info there... this is much appreciated I cant wait to actually drive the thing, bought it as a non runner so looking forward to sorting all problems giving her a good service and taking her for a drive

just had a look at camskill? cna see one inner o-ring for the transfer box, what others should i order just in case:sad:
