Leaky thing??

Hello again,


Can anyone please tell me what this is that is leaking on top of the rocker cover please and if it's a common thing and tips on a fix please, I don't want to start to butcher the car before asking for advice please.

Oh, yeah, 4 with a 5 engine..

Is the mess coming from the plastic seal?

i believe its the non return valve for the rocker cover to inlet breather .

you should be able to replace the rubber gromit . and check the valve , should only allow you to blow to the manifold not from it . :O)

give it a clean and check again .

yes it the one way valve PCV i think its called.. the rubber gromit from mitsi is a steel at £18.. lol..........

Defo something cheap from Mitsubishi for a change I called them once for the washer jets that go on the bonnet. Both exactly same but a big difference in price!! Even the salesman was surprised at the price difference for the same part!

Is it deffo the grommet? And not the valve clogged up causing it to blow past? I'd take the valve and pipe off first and soak it over night in petrol or diesel then refit it. They're not designed to be overly tight in the grommet. Try that first as it's a free solution, in the mean time I'll have a look in my box of bits as I may have a spare valve you can have.

Hi mate, top tip! I will try it out mate, I have a some fuel in the garage, I'll pop outside in a bit and take it off, is it as simple as just pulling it off from the rocker and pipe?

Yeh, it'll pull out the head easily, it's a clamp where it attaches to the manifold though.
