is an evo 9 turbo on my 8 really going to make that much difference?? little help please would be great..:D

Yeah that's it mate they are my tuner nick at at nr reckons it should dee the car up to 400-400 at the fly I think ..:D

i would of thought an 8 Mr turbo would get quite near 400? With the right mod's! :)

hey mate not sure dont think my tunner wants to push it anymore?... already running 1.7bar through it

normally you'll find the 9 turbo will give about 25-30bhp more than a MR turbo

Yes the 9 80series turbo will produce more power than a mr turbo :)

hey lee cool that's good to know and these figures 400-400 are at the flywheel aren't they to get 400-400 wheel power the motor has to produce 490 at the fly is that correct..

Yup, 400-400 is at the flywheel, 400 @ the wheels would be around 490 @ the fly. However flywheel calculations are pointless on any chassis or hub dyno. I have seen ones say that some cars have had a 5% transmission loss (yeah right!),not on Evo's but you see my point, sometimes they give silly readings.

If you want 400 bhp @ the flywheel aim for around 325 bhp @ the wheels which should be near enough a true 400 bhp @ the fly on a 4WD car. The only way to truely get flywheel figures from a dyno is to use an engine dyno. All others are just calculations based on what it works out is the transmission loss, but like I said above, one dyno said one RWD car had a 5% loss then another one had a 10% loss, both the same type car running the same trasmission on the same dyno and a RWD car is usually 12-18% loss. No car would ever have a 5% loss, not even a FWD car.

Oh, and as everyone else has said and Evo 9 80-series turbo will flow more than an 8 MR turbo so it will produce more power at the same boost.

wow.. well just goes to show lol... all this number crunchin and percentages dont really mean much unless your at a certain level with the car ie all the pros that have spent thousands on perfecting there cars for track use... so you would recommend going for a 9 turbo just for a fast road car on stock internals..

Yeah, Evo 9 80 series is a good turbo and will make for an excellent fast road car with good spool up and good power/torque throughout the rev range.

cool think i will go for that then just got to check the turbo over it comes with oil and water lines and manifold will have a look if any play in the shaft i have been told minimal left to right play no more than a 1mm and no in and out play at all..

You can use your own oil and water lines if you want cos there ain't much difference. And if the manifold is standard then also won't be any difference to your own so not worth buying

you'll need a 9 J-pipe though as a 8 one will touch the starter motor +ve :(

you can use an 8 one if to move the starter motor +ve to come from underneath and then also insulate the jpipe incase it touches the +ve, but if ou can get a 9 jpipe its better
