outcome on my engine

well i headed back to luton this morning from boston and left my dad looking over the car for the hickups.

got a call a little while ago he thinks he has found the leak and its the pipe that goes into the top of the transfer box, it was the only thing i didnt disconnect when removing engine and noticed it a bit late it seems, it bent the monkey metal and put a crack in it, when the acy was being bled earlier it went everywhere and decorated the workshop floor and back of the engine so its been braised and going back on the car tomos.

power steering pump still noisy and when driving if you change direction quickly the power steering just cant keep up and pauses before it does anything so im still hoping its just air, pipes are coming off tomos and being flushed.

all that said i have been told to go ahead and tax it so its all done, ill be back up there next week and hopefully be bringing my baby back with his new vortex hat

the pas sounds like it needs more fluid mate, they feel 'notchy' when low...

is there a bleed nipple on it somewhere, it does say its full according to the dipstick on the cap

with the engine running & cap off, keep slowly adding fluid til it wont keep taking it. it will ne a bit high but you can suck that back out. the pot can look like it has enough in it, but the whole system may be low.

then just steer full lock to lock (so you can hear the pressure relief valve in the pump) and you should see air coming out into the pot

well i have heard from base (my dad) that much to foxys annoyance my car is all done and working.

the power steering problem was my fault it turns out the bung i put in the end dissapeared up the pipe and was blocking the fluid, oops, no noise now.

as for the ayc pipe that had a crack in it the braise has done its job and now bone dry and not leaking.

cheers lee on the instructions on bleeding ayc i passed on the info to my dad he bled it and all but one light has gone out and flicks through the modes just fine.

back up there sunday start work on monday with finishing touches.

properly fix bumper
fit underneath cowling back on
put skids back on
spray vortex ready for fitting
wiper blades
proper clean in out and under bonnet
oil change

and thats that, time lapsed from going wrong nearly 4 and half months

what i did, at the time i didnt enjoy it but now its done with im glad i did it as i have learnt a whole heap since i started ripping down, and i gotta admit when it fired up with the first turn of the key i did grin a little, and when i took it for a drive and there was no dodgy shaking from the balance belt, and that it went into every gear like a charm i felt good.

wouldnt have done it without my dad constantly shouting accross the workshop telling me to 'get on with it' and 'well it can only go one of two ways'

just cant wait to get to the car now
