Hi, coming home from work tonite, i gave my 8 a bit stick on a long stretch of road, got to about 90mph, noticed the the steering wheel was vibrating quite bad. this is the first time its done it. not sure wheather its the stretch of road or what. ive had it on the motorway at 100+ and its nvr done this before. al do the same agin tmw nite to see if it is the road surface but if not, what could be causing it?

Quite possibly a combination of the road surface and the tyres fighting for traction.

Let us know how you get on but test it on a dual carriage way that has a smooth surface or a stretch of motorway to be sure of what it is.

No point checking if the tyres are balanced on a road that has more craters than the moon;)

That being said already, you could have jolted one of the weights off a tyre when you passed through a pot hole! That could be why the balancing is now out.

I am sure you will let us know how you got on buddy.

Tried it again tonite, was on the same stretch of road. but wasnt to bad as i was doing a slower speed this time. will try it tonite when am out and about. come to think of it i had a new tyre put on the front drivers side the other day, possible the grease monkey who done it hasnt balanced it properly? it has new weights on the rim but surely the guy shouldnt be doing the job if he's managed that

you should have got the tyres done as a pair, this might have a affect as there will be different wear on the two front tyres.

It could even be that they tyre put on the car is rotational and is running back to front!!!

Either way, I would road test the car on a different road to confirm that all is OK.

doubt you need a new set of wheels mate just sounds like you need a man who knows what hes doing to do ur tyres for you!!!get ur car in and check the balance it sounds as simple as that to me but then again i could be wrong and tyres should always be changed as a pair on the evo!

A point well made Stu.
Not a lot of people realise that on an AWD you are best off changing the wheels in pairs.

I was wondering when you would show up to give us your 10 pence worth. Good to have you back I must say!!!

Now go and say hi to the Newbies buddy.
