Is it safe or am I being silly ?

So the cars going in for some new parts to be added ..

JMF Inlet manifold
JMF exhaust manifold
3" elbow and downpipe
AVCR fitted
Front Mount Intercooler
Exeedy double plate clutch as well just to be sure
then all remapped on the "quiet" side as not to stress things anymore than needed.
Im having s few more bits done but not power mods.

Im looking for just over 400/400 id be happy with that but want it good to drive aswell as having serious grunt.

Do people think im over doing it with the manifolds ?? My thinking was from my CTR days where the first mods are always to help engine breath better and handle more air, but at the same time I dont want to blow it up !!!

This is all part of a overall plan to forge and I know i should of gone forged first then bought other parts but its more "economical " for me to go this way as I got some bits cheap recently.

If its mapped safe then I dont think it will be a problem but I dont know enough about the Evo engine to be sure im not stressing other parts

i am not that knowledgable with the nine, but id of thought if your aiming for 400 bhp, maybe no need to bother with manifold or the intercooler, standard parts should handle that power fine. but if your loaded with cash, go for it!

Depends what FMIC you're going for. You're on the right lines i think. I take it you've already got an uprated fuel pump?

Well it will be a starting point for bigger things so parts will be needed when a bigger blower is strapped on all the internals are forged up ;)

Fuelling is handled by walbro 255 and FMIC will be AMS so it will handle the power easily and the eventual power when above is done :whistling:

im aiming for the same sort of power with my 7 now, just waiting on JMF manifold to come and HKS GTII turbo to come then can get them all fitted.

im trying to over spec so less parts are strained with the chance to up the power as the mods allow;)

Just be careful which AMS cooler you get, the one on mine is MASSIVE and a small turbo i would think would be a little laggy with it.

intake and outlet manifolds yes they help the cars breathe better therfor perform better, another thing which is overlooked is a wider turbo elbow too, get the gasses through the turbo quicker. turbo cars love to get exhaust gases out quick time so bear that in mind with exhaust systems, unlike naturally aspirated where they rely on some back pressure.

standard componants can handle just shy of the 400 mark i would say, anything more you enter the unknown, you could be lucky or you may not

3" being fitted pal !!!

as for shy of 400 im not to sure i know a lt of 410-430 BHP cars on sandard internals not sure on torque figures around 400 on some of them but as you say may just be luck

oooo pricey :D Nice

I KNOW !!!! im shocked at how much all this is costing me to be fair but its being done right on the way to a big tubby and forged parts so needs must for a quality build :D

well it depends on what model you have to start with for example i have the fq300 so 400 is as little too optimistic and its the unknown, but if you have a 360 over 400 is do able, from what i hear the intercooler is one of the first things to go and throwing a rod is the unexpected part

DO you have induction and BOV/DV fitted too?

Mines a bag of nails at the moment, bought it like that. It has a cheapo tubular manifold on it which I will be replacing, JMF has been recommended to me as a good one.

With decat/HKS induction/BOV, AVC-R and l255 pump mine alledgedly made 390bhp @ 1,5 bar but I suspect it at best running 300 now lol!!

I'm looking to add the JMF manifold and having it mapped properly.

I think 400 is doable.

On my model I have a weak magnesium wheel turbo so wouldnt want to push boost too much.

Let me know how it goes.

Where you getting your manifold and elbow from as ive been search around to get prices, they not cheap are they but at least guaranteed not to crack!!

You will be very surprised just how good the standard inlet and exhaust manifolds are for that sort of power. By fitting an aftermarket inlet manifold you may well see the car be less responsive as the aftermarket inlets are aimed at much more power. Thought about porting your exhaust manifold and turbo elbow? and also going with a bigger throttle body and porting the standard intake to fit it. If you go too big then yeah it will handle the power but may well be a laggy responce to the whole thing. A nice 400 bhp with the right weight reduction and set up so its very responsive is one hell of a good car. However if you are going for more power in the future then go for it and get those big parts.

You know your going to have to cut the bumper with an ams cooler don't you! Why don't you go for a Spec-R jobbie with all custom pipework and a nice Tial bov

Ive got a HKS bov at the moment but a Turbosmart split BOV/Recirc is going on, my exhaust manifold is a JMF from ross sport my inlet is from the same and my 3" elbow and downpipe are being custom fabbed for me as we speak ;) Im running a IX tubby now and it peaks at 2bar and settles around 1.8 on a 3-port solenoid and know real electronic boost controller so the AVCR will help me run a more constant boost I hope a little less tbh and still make the power and driveability

I did think of that, but the inlet manifold is the sprint version of the JMF made fpr around 400-450 so I was happy to go with that and I can add a larger throttle body at a later date if I need to. Were (me and Ant@Indigogt) that it doesnt get to laggy for now and when a bigger tubby is on and she is forged I wont need to stress for too much power.

MMMMM ive been told it needs a slight adjustment but not major I looked at the spec-R but decided to gop tried and tested with the AMS. Ordered my catch can and a few other bits off pete today when you going down for test fit nicky ??
