hey man, welcome to the site... evo 5s are quite a good car mate, and can be taken to a big spec with very little ££ compared to others (fords etc).. from standard you could probally get it to 5-600 bhp for about £3k ;)

are they reliable, and what sort of miles do they need a rebuild, the one i've been offered has done 78000 miles,in cossie terms thats due a rebuild.

An Evo 5 (although I know nothing about Evo's) sounds like a good swap to me regardless.

Disregard anything I say though as I am probably going to buy my first Evo this weekend and cant wait - so maybe talking cak.

But I have a subaru wrx and I want something better and after speaking to a few Evo owners - it IS the way to go.

Best.

Alan.

Like chalk and cheese in terms of reliability. The cossies ive had the pleasure of playing with tended to need a lot of preventitive maintenance and then still let go in a big way often. Evos will keep going if properly maintained. They do need regular maintenance still (lower miles compaired to cossies i think) but you can get some very good and cheap improvements with out engine or diff internals becoming externals.

I used to have a Cosworth, the a few cheaper cars and now a Evo 6 and its great 86k miles and not a lot of issues.

ive heard of people that have done well over 100k on standard internals with no rebuild.. if your worried just get the engine forged and youll be good for 10000s of miles (as long as its serviced every 6 months/5k miles)

Me too mate !

The one I'm looking at (well going to be looking at) is currently being shipped 150 mile up the road to the local dealer.

Funny, I said to me 3 year old daughter that I might be getting a Mitsubishi Evo and the next day she trotted off into nursery chanting 'My dads gettin a mitsibisi Evil'

Pretty cute really - and when me and the missus and me little one go to view - hopefully tomorrow or Saturday - if she says buy it Daddy - well my heart will melt and thats that. I shall then be an Evo owner.

Hope she does really :D
