what tyres on 18' alloys

Finally got round to ordering a set of 18' rims .....what tyres do folks recommend for fast road driving and the odd track day, ive been looking at toyo's and they have just released a new tyre the TS to replace the TR1 (i think its called)

Any one had any experience with these ? and whats peoples recommendations?

What width and offset wheels you bought depends on the tyre.

I have a 30mm offset 9x18 wheels and run 255/35/18 michelin pilot sport 2 normally absolutely awesome tyre in the wet and in the dry and awesome on track too showing little signs of wear.

Either that or I would go for goodyear f1 asymetrics as the next best.

Wouldnt recomend the T1r at all. They are only any good once they start to wear down cos the tread moves around so much and has less surface contact due to the large amounts of grooves in them.

The t1r has been discontinued for the t1s mate.

Cheers for info Lee, i had the same size tyres on my ep3 and the ride was so uncomfortable (felt every little bump in the road),I would like a bot more profile if I could but dont know if this will improve comfortability but give more tyre roll lessening handling.....im not to clued up on tyres and theyre affects on the handling TBH

What width were the tyres on your ep3 ?

35 profile changes depending on the width of the tyre cos it's just a percentage of the width rather than an actuall measurement.

For example a 215/35/18 tyre will have alot smaller sidewall profile compared to a 255/35/18

You also need to consider the rolling radius of a tyre when changing sizes.

For example a 255/35/18 tyre has pretty much the same rolling radius as a 235/40/18 which is also very close to a 235/45/17 tyre.

Tyre size calculators are available on line mate but those are the most comonly used sizes in Evo world
