help with car choice please

friend of mine is looking for new car, but is stuck for choice between these too.

Mercedes : MERCEDES BENZ ML320 PETROL

2002 BMW X5 3.0i Sport 5dr Auto Estate


trouble is we dont know anything about an ML so has anyone on here owned or know someone that has ???

what are they like in comparission to the X5 are they as good or better ?
if so the why are they cheaper or do you just get more for your money with an X5 ?

which is best and which would you buy out of these ????

couple of my mates have x5 and they cant say a bad word about them
part from round the town driving the really drink the fuel
not sure bout the merc personaly i dont really like any merc and they are prone to the odd electric fault!

anyway it would be the x5 for me

yea he has already driven a X5 so knows what they are like but wants to know if the ML is just the same ?? cos they are cheaper as you can see

Hi Mate,

My Misses mate had an X5 and loved it, couldn't fault it apart from the fuel it drank.... So her hubby bought her an M5 instead??!!!

Dont know anything about the ML, sorry.

I've had an x5 and would go for that over the ML. The x5 looks a lot nicer too. Don't know too much about the MLs but I nearly bought an AMG ML and was told not to. The exact words my mate used were "They are sh&^!!".

Can't say anything about either from expericence, but what I can say is my mum used to have a Merc....never again, constant problems! Has he thought about the Audi Q7? Audi's are always good and reliable.

The X5 is good but Gear Box issues and the Coolant System including Pipe Work, as well as the Temp Control Sensor are not so great.

It is a better choice over the ML which seems to drop in value daily.

My advice is find an X5 with warranty or look into the VW Touareg.

We went and looked at the ML and it was faultless freshly valeted and detailed and for what he paid compaired to a the cost of an X5 plus an X5 would need a big set of wheels too

and for what he paid for what it doesn't state he bought the ML it states he paid which could have been anything, for example travel costs, burgers or whatever:hm: At no point in the post did Lee say his mate bought the ML:arms:
