Hi All,

As per my previous thread you are aware i have had a few problems with my car. I have only used her 3 times this year "A sin in itself i know" but due to work and family commitments i have been unable to go out and play..:cry:

Anyway after finding the battery Flat today i have now rectified this..

I have tried earthing the 1st and 4th pin (under the steering wheel) and the AYC lights never flashed at all??!!:wtf::wtf:

Am i doing this right or wrong?? I just dont know!!?

Im starting to feel dis-heartened with her now, i have had lots of "stupid little niggly faults" since i bought her...:cry: "I will not give in though" She will be flawless again!!!

I live in Northants (NN10 to be precise) is there anyone who can help me diagnose and rectify the fault (without going to a main dealer, as they always want to rape you of your hard earned money) and have little care.

As long as you are not too far away, by hook or by crook.... I will get the car to anyone that can help...

I am desperate and genuinely asking for some help guys n gals :blush::blush:

Insert wire or paper Clip looped into port 1 and 4 mate, now the numbers are really hard to see so look really close

Then just turn the ignition on and the Ayc light will flash the code.
Slow flashes are tens and fast flashes and units.

8 slow flashes then 3 quick flashes would equal code 83

Do the other lights flash (engine management & ABS??) All lights should flash. The top (bigger) row is the one you need to use, think that is the one nearest the front of the car off the top of my head.

No, no lights were flashing at all!?
As per your diagram i used ports 1 and 4, but for some reason this did not work??? Maybe i carried out the earthing wrong, Im not sure. I'm going to have another go at it tomorrow.

You just need a small it of wire or even a paperclip to poke in the ports
Ie, one end of the wire in port 1 and the other in port 4

Nobody said earth them

Yup, as Lee said, just use a paper clip to short the 2 pins together then turn the ignition to the "on" position. No earthing needed, just shorting 2 pins.

Right... I have been out again this afternoon and tried this again.... With the new battery fitted and all good.

I started by putting the paperclip in holes 1 & 4 making sure they were in, then turned on the ignition. Still no Fault code flashing??!!

I then got under the drivers side to have a good look at the "ports".
As per your diagram above i had the clip in the correct ports. When i removed the "Port" from its housing there was a number of wires missing... Not sure if this is right??!!

The 16 pin connector had wires missing from ports:
2,3,4,7,9,11,14,15

Is this right??!!

ooh, can see your missing wires.

I'm not sure what wires should be connected there to be honest but if there is a wire missing on pin 4 then then that may be an issue as that should be earth iirc


Try earthing pin one to a seperate source and see if that works.

Ive just come back in and i have tried this and oesn't seem to work??!!

*The fault does not stay after the engine has switched off?! I turned the key after fitting new battery and fault code was gone...(I assume this had cleared the fault from the memory.) I drove the car approx 200mtrs down the road and both lights came back on again. AYC and ABS.

I then turned round and went back to my house (both lights still on).

Tuned off the ignition and got my wire to earth Pin 1 and paperclip at the ready.

Turned the ignition on but didn't start the car and both lights go out!!??

So..... Drove 200mtrs again and guess what, both lights came back on again??!!

Im stumped on this now, have tried both methods with no success

Any Ideas anyone??

even if there ar no fault codes the lights will just flash constantly
