hi i am new here i am looking in to buying a evo 8 mr fq340 or a evo 9 mr fq360 was wondering how much it would cost to get to around 500bhp on both and what would be needed thanks simon

Couple of guys are running in the 500 club on here, i'm sure they will be more than happy to let you know how they got there Most aren't on til a bit later though.

You will be looking at a fair old wedge of cash to get there, you have some sort of budget?

cheers mate i have a bit of cash but it would be done over time. just wanted to see how much in would cost in a one go and which one would be a better base plate out the 2 cars

to be honest its not worth running 500 bhp, are you after that figure to big it up in ya local pub? or are you gonna use the car for track days etc? do you know the running costs of 500bhp? ask how many use their 500bhp evos as everyday cars? whats your insurance gonna be like? can you cover the cost on fuel and if anything breaks?

where are you from? i know someone who has built a few 500+ engines and is a mitsubishi tech.

will not be running every day mate will be a toy and somethink to build myself bit by bit. atm i am using a ep3 honda civic type r turbo running 360bhp on half a bar of boost. i dont think the petrol and insurance will be much different. i am getting about 7mpg on that and the insurance is 4500 lol but want somethink 4wd now. i am from berkshire bracknell

I think Indigo do a rod job which will be up to the task of 500 ponies for around 2k

a 430bhp mk2 focus rs
a 400bhp supra tt
500bhp cosworth

mate a 400/400 evo will out handle all of them and without being fast round the bends they will lose the race!

I think you'll find 400/400 will leave the 350Z, focus RS, supra tt on the track the only one you might struggle with is the cosworth if it's 4wd Escort if it,s a 2wd give them a ride in your 400 brake evo

yeah i am def sure it will out handle all of them and the cosworth is a serria so it rwd not 4wd which is good. what do u think it would do in a straight line against the others would i come last with 400/400
