Hi,

i have just purcahsed an Evo 6 GSR which is used as a second car however from time to time i would like to drive to work in it. i cannot justify the MPG to sit on the motorway but i heard somewhere that you can get a controller to turn the boost right down for when you sat on the motorway, and then back to normal (but not Higher) when you want to drive it like an EVO!

is this correct, i have searched ebay and the web but cant find anything that would seem to do...

turning the boost down will not make any difference to your mpg mate, do you have a boost gauge in the car, if so you can drive your evo off boost with no problems at all, also having the car remapped can also help and get a new o2 sensor

thanks,

whats the o2 sensor?

i dont have a boost gauge but i try and drive under 3000 rpm if trying to save fuel. its really for motorway use that i am concerned.

occasionally i might drive a long way and it would be nice to take the evo just drinks fuel, but i dont want to compromise on performance for when i want to drive it properly.

when i head about the boost controller i thourght it was the solution.

any suggestions?

A boost controller is only there to maintain boost levells etc,, it will not help mpg,, the only way you will improve that is buy getting a diesel lol,, if your worried about mpg your in the wrong car:p

you shouldnt be concerned about mpg dude its a evo :D invest in a boost gauge before a boost controller as they can be fiddly to set up.

boost controllers help alot with boost spikes :)

remapping tends to help a little with mpg but only by 2-4mpg
