Hi guys,

Well driving to work today, I notice some strange noise coming from under the round the middle.
Anyway, get to work and the noise is bad, sounded as though I was dragging my exhaust, the car was also very shaky, like juddering.

Checked under the car, no exhaust hanging and no sign of anything hanging from the car that could make the noise.
When I depress the clutch the noise goes and is only there when I am driving.

I'm thinking I may have just completely f00ked my diff :(

Any thoughts.

Matt

Yeah I didn't think about it like that. That makes sense even to me :)

Not that I can see at the moment. TBH I just parked it up and went into work. I'll check again soon. I'm hoping its nothing too major, but by the sound it was making, I can imagine it will be :(

Hi guys,

Thanks for the replies.

Found the problem, rear diff casing has cracked, dropped its oil and has since chewed the internals by the sound of it :(

Should get it on the road again by early next week

Yeah just had enough of it really mate.

Seems to be one thing after another to be honest. I wouldn't mind so much if it was used all the time and thrashed to hell and back and never serviced.

Thinking about it though, as opposed to selling as a whole car think it will be a case of trying to break it, not too sure which would return the most money really.

What every you do im sure it will be the right thing for you.:)

Eh come on now man up will you, don't let a silly little thing like a broken diff get you down. Call ant@ indigo cos he might have one and it's to bad a job to change and you'll be back on the road in no time :)

At the end of the day it's just a diff. Could be worse, my works van is only 3 years old and only done 40,000 miles and it lost oil pressure and now the whole bottom end of the engine is scrap metal. And so with a 4k repair bill it's now a write off.
What I'm saying is it doesn't always have anything to do with stress or strain or wether it's been looked after or not cos sometimes from time to time things just break for no reason at all.

Chin up lad :)

matt ull get it fixed then sell it then ull be looking for another

trust me ive done it twice there awesome cars as u know

you could buy another car and have just as much trouble i think theres a stigma attatched to evo`s

somehow we think because something goes wrong its because we have an evo but look at this for a forinstaance

my mate has a volkswagen passat he has spent over 2k on repairs since having it 2 years ago

ive spent less than half in repairs on my evo

what im saying is all cars go wrong not just evo`s mate
