Timing / Cam Belt Change - is it due??

hi,

my EVO VI has cover 32,000 miles. the cam belt was changed by ralliart in 2004 at 24,000 miles on the clock. the belt has therefore covered only 8,000 miles.

i have called mitsubishi and they say its every 45,000 miles or 4 years, which ever the sooner, and then quoted me £685 for the privalige of changing it for me.

should i change it?

it is something i can do myself, i have changed timing belts on many fords but never on a twin cam car,

will i need special tools for the evo engine to lock the engine and cam?

any advise welcomed please.

Hi did u do c belt and how much is it to do and the belt

my advice is pay someone that knows how to do them cos it a bit fiddly with regards to removing all the neserserry parts to get to the belt itself and tensioning the belt and auto tensioner is a job in itself

gettin mine done wednes day, paid les than £100 for the belt, three pulleys and the auxhillery belt, DAYCO parts too from CAMSKILL.co.uk and my mates garage says it takes 4 and a half hours to do, so about £210 labour charge

thought that was pretty good myself!!!
