Hi all, I'm thinking about upgrading my standard 4 ecu to a 5 for future mapping. Was just wondering if this upgrade is just a straight switch. E.g unplug the 4 ecu and plug the 5 straight in. Any info would be appreciated. Also anybody know where I can get one? Cheers.

hi leigh yes the 5 and the 6 ecu are both just plug straight in you could try sponners he usually has thats where i got my 6 rs ecu from and he is great to deal with :)

failing that try el , jamie or john@evobrakers there are a few traiders on here that will soon sort you out bud!

Thanks guys. I've been doing a little research. Am I right in thinking that I would need the ecu, injectors and walbro fuel pump?
Forgive my ignorance but this is all new to me. After changing these parts would I need to get it mapped straight away? Thanks

You'll also need injectors from an Evo 5-9. I have a set for £50 if you want them ? :)

5 ecu is plug and play BUT the 6 ecu you have to cut a wire/swap a wire.

Spot on :)

Get it mapped ASAP as your fueling will be all over the place. At least check the AFR before any real driving.

95% of the time the 5/6 ecu is just plug and play.......only a couple of wires to swop if it doesn't work.

a lot of people just run the ecu/injectors without even getting a remap and seem to be fine.

if you do decide to get the car remapped then you dont need the later injectors.

the standard 5 onwards ecu is fully programmable mate, so you can fit whatever size injectors you want if your getting it remapped.

but on a standard 4 engine the standard 4 injectors are more than capable.

My cars pretty standard. The only mods are kakimoto exhaust (cat back),greedy downpipe, hks Ssqv dump valve and hks mushroom filter. If I were to change the ecu, fuel pump and injectors and get a map does anyone know what sort of bhp I would achieve? I'm just trying to weigh up if it's worth it. Thanks again.

Might be worth thinking about a boost controller or if funds are short get a 3 port solenoid fitted when you get in mapped :)

I think you can run up to 1.4bar safe.

With the mods you have plus the up-grade you should see 330-350 safe.

:)
