thanks lads.
My brother had Pulmonary embolism (PE). Its a blood clott disorder. From the time he was diagnosed till now the Doc's still dont know how he developed it.
On wed 17th nov he went into hospital coughing more blood than he has ever done. He was admitted into the ICU (intensive care unit - resus ward) and was sedated because he could'nt breathe due to the clots blocking his wind pipe and at the same time trying to cough the blood out. When i got to the hospital he was sedated at this point i was'nt very worried because he has always pulled through. He stabalised around 4am. The nurse told us to go home fresh'n up and come back. As soon as we got home, the doc called us and said that he had taken a turn for the worse. At that time they had already started resusitation. By the time we got there he was already dead. The resus team did everything they could. the nurse said that she left his side for about 5 seconds to take phone call and as soon as she did.... all his vitals dropped (blood pressure, heart beat, oxygen) litterly in a blink of an eye.
He had been suffering with PE for nearly two years. Pretty much the last 6 months it got very bad and he was caughing up blood from his lungs. The GP/Doc's did'nt really do anything as physically he looked fine but internally he was dying. the Doc's eventually gave him a date (6 dec) for a heart operation (the blood clotts broke up and started to block his ventrical, so he had un-even heart and lungs pressure).. But it was too late.
-sorry if i went into too much details, that actually the short version. hehe
