Hello i'm going to view this evo on Monday.

Used Mitsubishi Lancer in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire | Platinum Autos

They have it down as an evo mr fq340 but i believe its a jap import so have read it won't be an fq model.
Can anyone give the advert a once over and tell me the sort of things i should look for and ask before purchasing.I shall be test driving hopefully, first of many i shall be seeing with this one the most likely candidate at the moment because of budget which i'm currently working on.
Honestly guys any help would be so appreciated because i want my first to be my favourite and not a bag of spanners.
Any critique will be taken and used so please fire away.

Thanks James

Hi
Firstly they are all technically imports. The 260 and a few others are officially uk cars. The vehicle agency seems to often get in accurate details about specific model Evo's.
Or rather dealer's that don't specialise in these.
Do your usual checks for buying a car.
I would suggest it having a Magnesium rocker cover in the photo that it may have had an engine swap or just the cover.

Ok cheers Rob
Looking forward to seeing it but so used to only ever viewing cars that are a lot older normally so just unsure.I have a friend coming who is far more clued up than me so hopefully he can shed some light.

It's always hard with evos. Looks like what it says it is, the MR was available in that colour but the only way to know for sure is to take the VIN and ask your local Mitsubishi dealer what it is. Many, many evos are misdescribed in adverts.

Like Aidy says check Chassis number or ring mitsubishi before you decide to buy or not, either that or do a hpi check

Thanks for the suggestions guys and I'll definitely check the chassis number with mitsubishi,is it possible to do your own hpi check then?I will look into this too because a few of the others I have contacted about are private adds and hpi was a worry.
Thanks again chaps

You can hpi but some were converted by Mitsubishi pre-selling but post-delivery so might not come up as the correct thing, I'm thinking any 360 in particular.

Ok guys thanks for the advice
Just out of interest, are the gsr's still good cars to buy as they would leave me well in budget and leave me 4-5k to spend on modding myself.I have found one that has had one owner and only done 25k miles. They only want 81/2k and I'm sure I could knock them down a bit.
How much roughly would I need to spend to get it up to say an fq340 standard?

Went to see the mr 340 today, wasn't at all impressed.wheels in serious need of refurb and the car was just generally not looked after well.Second one was a gsr running 400bhp,guy said it was a show car which I couldn't see myself as I would have thought it would have been better looked after.Went out in it though and it pulled like a speed train and sounded unbelievable, thing that really put me off was buy as seen and this was from a dealer,ok if it was private but from a dealer????
He said they do a verbal warrantee where if the engine goes they will help you out lol
No thanks, not a good day first day of evo shopping :(
