Hi all,

Thought I'd just give a quick update on where I'm at.

Work has been held up massively by the only place in the area to be affected by flooding was my shed!!!!

I have managed to get a bit done tho.

Got the arms all back with poly bushes fitted (less the broken 1 which should hopefully turn up today)

Also got the built engine into the shed ready to start adding ancillaries.

And got the cleaned up and painted box on.

And done some electrical bits.

Battery relocation. (Bit scruffy ATM but it'll work)

And then got the cut off switch mounted.

That's pretty much where I got to last night. Things holding me up still are;
Live wire isn't long enough to go from engine bay to cut off
One of the rear arb bush clamps won't push up
Waiting in new rear arm
And need a hand to get the engine in without breaking anything

Bit of news from today.

After getting home from our honeymoon to the states yesterday, i was too knackered to go outside and do anything to the car. That is despite having big plans on the plane home to have it running by Sunday easily!

Anyhow, after a quick visit to my good friend and sponsor Ross W of rossport, to get some final bits and bobs, a few mates came round and we got cracking.

And after a bit of swearing, IT 'S IN!!!!

Most of it has now been plugged and plumbed in. Just need to fit the down pipe with shiny new silenced decat, connect wideband and fill it up with fluids and it should be ready to start! Look forward to that tomorrow or tues hopefully!!!

Hi everyone,

I was hoping tonight would contain something along the lines of "it's alive "... But sadly not.

I got the final few bits a bobs today whilst on my lunch break, ready for the big moment tonight. Drive home with a big smile on my face thinking I'd see the car fire into action in a few hours.

Got home, 1st job was to fill with coolant as I hadn't realised that I used my last lot a while ago. Began filling the rad until it was almost full, then it happened. Sounded like someone had turned a tap on under the engine !

On inspection it was coming from behind the cam belt cover. I knew almost straight away where it was coming from.

When I was building the engine, the water pump gasket didn't completely go around the edge of the pump. Being a genuine mitsi part I though weird but must somehow work. No, it didn't work.

After a panic email to Ross, he confirmed the gasket is in fact for an Evo 8. Luckily he's got a 6 one in stock so should be with me on fri.

Very annoying but never mind. Just not looking forward to trying to put it all back together and time it up in the car!

In other news I decided I'd probably need a way of quieting down the exhaust, as I've only scraped thro a few sound tests, so bought a silenced decat from Ross. Upon getting it home I noticed a bit of a fail in that it has no boss for a wideband sensor. So off that went to have 1 welded in. Another job done!

Also got my Rossport graphics. Can't wait to get these fitted. I keep looking at pics of Ross's old silver car in red and getting bodywork/aero ideas but that will have to wait!

Just wana thank Ross again (I may as well make a shrine) for being so helpful and patient with me.

No pics for tonight as I've been pretty slack but interior is pretty much done, just need to route hoses for fire extinguisher as they're both bolted down now.

Oh, and it's alive !!!!!!!!!

Hopefully I'll get it out of the garage tomorrow and take it for a little drive. Can't wait !!!!

Tom, that's a shame about the water pump. Being able to do the cam belt on the floor is sooooo much easier than it is in the car.

But I feel you pain.
Early this year I had engine and box out to do clutch and cambelt was a lot easier than with engine in

See if I'll fit in your seats

They are quite small haha!

Just been out for a test run. Got back to change oil and noticed coolant dripping from the bottom!!!!

Feeling utterly pissed, I got it jacked up and had a butchers (expecting the worst and it to be coming from the water pump again) it turned out to be 1 of the heater pipes just under the IM. with some swearing and a few more scratched knuckles, it was on!

Just changed the 1st lot of oil and all seems to be ok again. Got the daily commute tomorrow so I'll see how that goes.

I'll put some pics up tomorrow.

So daily commute all went without a hitch, other than needing geo set up etc.

Got home and turned off to hear a hissing coming from the back. Went round to see what it was and discovered my battery looking like a baloon!! I quickly whipped it out before it exploded.

I then fitted a stock battery and tested the charge, which was at 18v. Fearing I'd have the displeasure of trying the wrestle the Alternator out, I decided to test my audis battery at rest and the stock 1. They were both at 16v. So looks like my metre was reading high.

I'm currently waiting for a friend to finish work to borrow his,as I refuse to pay local motor factor prices for tools if I can help it!

Due to the fact the battery did get quite hot just off a trick charge the other day is giving me some hope it's that. Pretty annoying as I'll have to buy a new red top but at least it's easy to change!

So battery checked with a new metre n all seems fine. So looks like I had a duff red top battery!!!

On another note, I managed to give it a quick clean and fit the Rossport graphics. I still have the smaller ones to fit but I'm not sure at this moment where to put them. The car will be getting fully stickers up with the series stuff next month so I'll see what space is left then.

Here's a few pics of it after a small clean. Needs a good clay bar sesh and a machine polish

Hi all,

Running in is going well, although a 4 k limmit is a bit of a pain. On actuator pressure he car pulls pretty hard!

As I'm trying to rack up the miles it's getting used for pretty much everything so has got the family car stamp of approval.

Dog getting comfy before a trip to the beach yesterday.

And just loaded a pram in to take to the in laws (now we're married, everyone is just going mad about us having kids for done reason!!!)
