Lightweight flywheels

Ive just been in to a performance car garage as i need to get a paddle clutch installed in my car as the power of it is slipping the standard clutch.. I thought to myself i may aswell get a lightweight flywheel whilst its all apart. But the guy at the garage said not to if its not a track car as im not going to see much advantage and that its hard for the engine to idle properely with a lightweight flywheel??? He thinks i should keep the standard flywheel, im getting a 6 paddle helix installed. Anyone had any lightweight flywheels fitted to their evo's ? Pro's and con's???

I've never ever heard of it causing any problems with idle

It will make it rev a lot easier and quicker, you will lose a little top end speed but I doubt you'd notice.

Ye im not sure now, its engine tuner in plymouth (alan jefferies) he also said that by drilling the holes in them and shedding the weight its loosing its structual integrity and is more likely to warp? Im only going to use the car for weekends and maybe back and forth to work on occasions. Will buying a lightweight flywheel give more power? As im wanting to do a rod job on my car and take it to 500 ish bhp. Hence me putting the 6 paddle clutch in now

Wow, looking all over the internet and one lot of people will say lightweight flywheels are great and give better throttle response but then other people are saying it takes too much inertia away. I really havent got a clue what to go for lol. People who recommend getting the lightweight flywheels are recommending ACT streetlite or prolite ones

One thing is for sure that Alan knows his stuff,he's built loads of big power evo and subarus
BUT I've never heard of a lightweight flywheel affecting the idle, it's not going to give you anything apart from reving a bit more quicker.

Ye i thought he was a reputable bloke, i do fancy getting a flywheel though whilst all the gearbox is out. I spose i will wait and see what condition my standard one is in first though

I'm now looking fur a new clutch and am also thinking I may aswell do the flywheel at the same time, I fancy a lightweight one any ideas what's half decent for not mega bucks? Cats a standard 260 gsr atm should be going to 340-370 ish once all mods are done doubt I'll be going over 400 anyway
