Hey

Recently bought an evo 8 uk 260. It has 31000 miles on the clock and is 2004.
It had an exedy clutch fitted at 25000 miles before i bought it. Standard apart from dump valve. When acceleratin hard gears can be hard to get quickly without crunching.

Any ideas on this? Any advice much appreciated.

Is it doing it when the clutch pedal is right to the floor?

could be clutch adjustment, poor oil in gearbox or worn synchros.

Agreed!

The best place to start would be to check the Gear Oil as some people do forget to replenish it when the box is put back on

Remove the top up bung and dip your finger in to check if it is full or not.

If it is full then move on to the pedal and see if it requires adjustment.

If that does not cure the problem then change the Gear Oil.

If the Gear Oil does not make a difference then it is the Synchro's

Keep us posted please.

Not expensive at all, considering the cost of replacing a complete box.

I must point out that it is best to repair a box as soon as the problem starts as it ends up becoming a bigger issue later on.

Give Jamie a shout, I am sure he can offer you the necessary components at great prices.

Remove the filler bung and check with your little finger to see if it is full!

I have adjusted the clutch and topped up the gearbox oil. Seems to have helped but i have only driven a few miles. Havent floored it and tried changing quickly. Speedometer started jamming today. Is that easily fixed?

Check that the speedo sender on the top of the gear box is attached correctly.

Disconnect the plug and give it a clean and the re-connect it.

That should sort it out I think! ;)

If not, you know where we are!!!
