Ok i am planning the next stage of engine mod's on my VI and it is booked in for a Nice HKS 7460 GT11 turbo and some ID1000 injector's my question is what gain's do you get from removing the Aircon? Is it worth doing or not?

Cheers James:)

Minimal weight loss except the pump weighs a ton lol

I have removed it all in the engine bay as its not required in this country anyway :p

It puts less resistance on your aux belt which in turn allows turning easier so basically in a very minor way will increase rev speed. As for bhp..... People say it uses 5 or so bhp when on. I took mine out completely when my ac pump failed. The pump weighs a couple of kilos but as for the rad fan and pipes you would save more weight going for a dump before a drive.

Take the rad out and pop that bad boy into your van pal after what I see today it's needed :)

I removed mine for the simple reason i never use it and i want a nice engine bay with a less busy look, the pipes are bulky and makes life easier when working on things.

Mine decided to make a huge explosion of smoke on the final straight of the nurburgring

Thought my evo was on for its "glorious death" at the ring!

Was so happy when I noticed the burst aircon pipe infront on the turbo :awesome:

Nice and cool in the summer fact.

Well the sun don't even get to yours lol.

I still say get rid. It's easy enough, get an rs belt 4 bolts and the pumps off and the pipes come off easy enough. Just have to take a load of stuff off for the rad and fan

Defo doing this soon! Any tips Fq-craigus did you get all the piping out the engine bay, from memory I traced some back to the bulk head?
