How easy is it to get the motor changed in the wing mirror of an evoX. The drivers mirror doesn't open and close when locking and unlocking the car. I'm currently having a battle with the garage I got it from to get them to fix it as only had the car just over 2 weeks! Any advice

Zoe they are not to difficult to change TBH! Was the mirror working when 1. You test drove the car and 2. when you collected the car?

Most warranty's would not cover this type of thing:sad:

Yeah it was working absolutely fine and has done until this week. It didn't close properly on Monday but then worked fine until Wednesday when it just stopped working altogether. Your right it's not covered on the extended warranty I took out

Not often am wrong missy:D Trouble is it could of been damaged by some knob head trying to open it by hand so these electic folding mirror's tend not to be covered due to that reason or such like! Was all started by the new 3 Series folding mirroe's some years back due to the cost of a genuine mirror from BMW:shock:

Ok I'll try and remember your not often wrong . Still trying to get the garage to do it. I generally get what I want but they are putting up a bit of a fight. If not gonna have to buy one and get it fitted.

Sorry to say this is a known issue with the X and many have reported (mostly driver side) mirror failure. Be careful with auto open/close too as have a tendancy to break when weather icy and mirror frozen.

Mitsubishi actually do a repair kit with motor assembly so dont have to replace whole unit and the coloured bit is just a cap than can be "popped" off - although many monkey fists have broken the clips so be careful.

I did mine on the kitchen table in about 45 mins all in so not a big job.

Thanks mate!! I have eventually got the garage I brought it from to fix it, got to go back to Peterborough mind but at least they are gonna do it now. Hopefully Friday it'll be working properly again! Will keep you posted

Well my wing mirror has started working again randomly. But still gonna take it to get checked out.. But of a road trip and chance to open the engine up a bit.

Any ideas as to what could cause an intermittent fault?

Does the motor actually try to turn?

When I stripped mine down the motor worked fine when removed so looks like something got into the cogs and wheels to jam up the workings.

If you get nothing then you cold check behind the tweeter in the door (just pops off) as there is a plug that might need a clean ;-)

Yeah the motor tries to turn, but when it wasn't working properly was very weak and it was like there wasn't enough power getting to the motor. All of a sudden just worked normally this morning after not working properly for a week and having almost no life in it.

Thanks for the tips when I take it to the garage tomorrow I can get them to check the motor and behind the tweeter! Thanks again mate!!

See I knew if I provoked you, you might actually give some useful advice... ;). I'm more bothered what is in front of me than behind me. I can't hit what disappearing behind me ;)

Nothing wrong with certain women drivers..... Admittedly there are some that don't deserve to get in a car let alone own a driving license :)
