washed my car last night so might just have got wet somewhere it should'nt.
anyway around 5.30 this morning, my car proximity sensor keeps beeping. i am thinking its prob my cat.
i go out to investigate, to find my lights are also on?
so disarm my alarm with my fob, lights are still on?
key in the ignition turn it and all i get is a rapid rely clicking noise. however lights have gone off.
so disconnect and reconnect battery to see if it resets, only to kick my alarm into full audible action... bet my neighbours now really luv me....
my alarm is a clifford avantguard 5.5 i have had to go to work. so no chance to look but wondering if my alarm has a rely fitted? and that is what i can hear or is it my new hids causeing the prob?

been home at break time. put the jumpleads on and ta daaa... the car started. all i got do is find out what the power draw is. have recently fitted a 6 ecu. and am wondering if i need to swap the pins. as sometimes one of the probs is it doesnt charge your battery. i will have to a buy/borrow a multimeter i suppose!

hmmm would not thinnk its the ecu then as it would have happened before now i would think. is there anything else in the car which could be drawing power gauges ect?

haha endless. fitted a boost gauge 2 weeks ago, and remounted an amplifer in the boot (though i did'nt touch the wiring) so it could be a no. of things!

There are only two plausible conclusions to be reached Diccon:

1. The battery is on it's way out/not holding charge.

2. Power drain.

You really need to have a volt meter hooked up to the battery for an hour or so to determine if there is a power drain as sometimes it trickles very slowly to say the least buddy.

I am sure you will get to the bottom of it Diccon!

i hope so or the next time i bump into the neighbours they will prob be holding a bat!!!!

battery was fitted new 4/10/10.

so more likely a power draw:(
have got a good voltmeter from work that i could leave on the battery at the weekend..
i understand leaving it on for that long to see if the voltage drops. but then how do i work out what the drain is?
my plan was to just attach the voltmeter to everything newly install to see if it is properly earthed and has a power feed when ignition is off? does that sound right??

You could do that buddy.

I prefer to do it the way I suggested because I am a busy man, so jumping into a car and going through the motions when it could just be a battery that does not hold charge is not really a viable option for me.

I normally leave the voltmeter in place and carry on with something else, coming back to check on it every so often.

In your case, as there are new installs, it might be quicker to do it your way to be honest with you.

ok found the prob this afternoon, after my fellow workmates kept coming to tell me my headlights were on, and me going outside to find out they were off:wtf:
so i decided to go over the hid wiring.
everthing was connected right, until i pulled the relay out from were i stuffed it and found it full of water:razz::razz:
alas i think i have found the problem. case closed:blush::blush:
