Cranking problems

Hi, I have had an Evo IV for a few weeks now. When I got it it turned over really slowly. The battery looked knackered. I bought a new Bosch S4 battery and it was exactly the same, in fact the other night it died altogether. I have a boost timer which reads 14.2 volts when the engine is running and 12 volts when it is switched off. Any ideas why the battery seems to be knackered when it is brand new.

Introduce yourself over in newbie thread mate n let ppl get to know you a bit. Sounds like youve a drain somewhere. Disconnect certain things that stay on like boost timer and youl find it pretty quick.

Check the main earth cable from the battery to the chassis.

Got this car about two weeks ago from Forres (not far from Inverness). I stay in Aberdeen.
Seems to run well but turns over really slowly.
It also has the AYC pump problem, ie runs continually and probably not generating any pressure.
Hope nothing else goes wrong as the price of parts seems to be extortionate.

the pump is probably goosed but it can be repaired.
The world of evos is an expensive one.iv had them for over 10 years and mapped loads in that time and seen how much folks spend

It was a 2 mate.

Problem sorted. When bruv took off old starter we found the solenoid stud had broke, Previous idiot owner had tried to repair it by using another bit of stud and a nut. So little power getting to the starter. If the bit of stud had fallen off it would probably have hit the exhaust fried the battery and set the car on fire
