New wrap

Well we did this a few weeks ago but as the car failed to make Japfest trout I would put up a few pics of the new wrap. I did have 3d 3m carbon wrap on the bonnet and boot. The wrap on the bonnet was splitting around the vent. The wrap on the boot was poor quality so wanted it replaced.

Anyways this is the outcome of our work

Old 3D wrap

Wrap removed and bonnet cleaned

4D wrap

Few of the boot all finished

Hopefully this stuff will last longer than the other wrap did don't want to make a yearly effort of wrapping the bonnet. Plus I don't think Sarah will be happy if I tell her we are re wrapping the bonnet again lol

Looks like a yellow version of mine now mate . Looks good. Who did you get the wrap from and does it look good when the light hits it?

It was already like this just wanted 4D wrap as said above eBay for the wrap. Looks more like real carbon in the light. Not seen full on as not had the weather and the car hasn't moved lol

Did you use a heat gun and soapy water?

Is yours a wrap or real carbon billy? How long did it take you to wrap it matt? Mines real carbon but its been damaged so was looking at 4d wrap

That's alright mate

Neither, hair dryer and a tiny amount of water, heat warms the glue and it will peal off

What's damaged on it? It cracking around the holes for the washer jets? Took about 3 hours to do the bonnet, most of that being with the vent. Didn't include cutting in under the bonnet.

I'm a fan of the real thing but it does look well matt

Do like carbon but the bonnet is a bit too glossy that and I can't see the point in spending the money for no weight saving lol.

A jcb bucket hit it on the osf outer part so ive used clear resin and hardener to repair the split buut im either going to wrap the lot or paint both edges to match car. I thought of stickerbombing and other wraps too. My heads in bits

That sounds like its made a mess!! Not good mate. Wrap would be an option, pretty cheap option and better than sticker bombing. Thought painting carbon was a sin? Lol.

Yeah it was a mess. You could get your fingers between the splits. Did you do bonnet by yourself? I might just bring it to japshow and you can give me a hand wrapping mine only probs is its a cw ts2 by seibon and has more vents than batmobile

That's a mental split on the carbon bonnet! I say we as if I don't say I had help I will end up with a slap, but yeah we wrapped it. First time with the 3d wrap did it off the car which was a mistake, easier with the bonnet on and then taken off to cut in.

Not so easy with that. Would have to cut the wrap before the vents as there is a good chance it could peal. Seen it done on a scoob at Japfest.

Yeah it was. Thinking im going to have to plasti fill it so its smooth again and perfect and either just wrap sides or dare i say paint edges to match car

What about plastidip? They offer that in a carbon effect don't they? Tough decisions. Maybe better putting paint on it, be interesting to see how well it could be wrapped but there is a lot of vents! The other option is proper carbon repair or re skin but I wouldn't like to think on what that would cost.
