Butterfly seals

Hi guys

Well had a slight missfire through the revs that has gradually appeared then disapeared over the last few weeks/drives. Think I've now sorted it though so

But during my fault finding I did a boost leak test with my compressor and boost leak kit. Found decent leaks, one from a reducer for the DV and one on the throttle body!

After some research I've worked out its the butterfly valve seals in the throttle body. I know this as when I turn the butterfly or wiggle the shaft the leak note changes in turn.

Anyone else had this? I can only find old posts with old links to where I can buy some new valves, all seem to be American too

Ive got a slight leak around my throttle body at the moment, I haven't done a boost pressure test yet but I can feel a leak with my hand from the top of gasket between throttle body to manifold so hoping its just that

I was doing some research on it the last week and theres a few threads on it over on the evolutionm forum, they mentioned it just being a rubber o ring which you can get from halfords or equivalent

I've got my gasket on order from camskill so just hoping I dont have to change the o ring on the butterfly but if you wanna take a few pics as you do it I'd really appreciate it in case I have to

Will do buddy. My only fear is the throttle position sender, I may have to buy a volt meter to get that spot on.

Mine leaks out of the part where the shaft enters the throttle body, has a spring wrapped round it too.

Will be a bonus if that's where yours is leaking as that should be easy to fix!

So dose that mean if I wanted to get them from a main dealer I would have to sit on the phone for half hour argueing with them lol!

Is it a case of if its wrong I can still drive the car to say Simon@NTS and have this checked?

Cool, thats got the voltage values in it, I couldnt find them in the workshop manual, dosent help trying to read it on my phone tho

I suppose doing a volt meter before taking it apart will be key then matching it after the rebuild :sneaky:

Yeah I guess as long as you get roughly the same V value before and after then you should have it spot on.

I found in my vehicle history that it had a new TPS fitted by indigo a couple of years ago and has since been mapped, however it always idles at around 9-950rpm which I think is a bit high??? I'm gonna check mine tommorow but thinking about it :thinking: the high idle could be caused by the potential leak on the gasket

I would say that's a low idle mine idles at 1k easily. But I do have a leak so could be a similar issue

IV got to buy myself a multi meter now :razz:
