Sorry to hear that man, as long as it didnt take out the cam belt you should be ok

Yep, as long as the cambelt hasn't jumped a few teeth you will be fine. Check to make sure the rest of the timing marks line up. If they do then you'll be fine.

consider removing the balance shafts to stop the problem from rehappening in future.

You have do strip the engine to remove big job I think

Just get yourself a gates belt kit and put it back together.

Shaft removal can not be done in the car and can not be done without a pretty much bare block

It doesn't make it smoother, the balance belt is there to atop the vibration ect. Some love it and some don't, I hear it makes it more lively and rev easier. It's a bit job to replace with delete kit ie engine out, if the belt hasn't taken out the cambelt I would say have all new belts fitted

I have had mine removed when i had the engine full forged and TBH i really haven't noticed any difference

Simon why can you not remove the belt on the standard internal's fella? Is it due to the fact the rod's etc are weaker?

Without removing the actual shaft you get a vibration about 3k rpm.
Both shafts match up to counteract each other.
It's nothing to do with std internals...

When you forge an engine you change all sorts of things ie reciprocating masses, engine balance, harmonic frequences etc etc so really balance shafts are no longer needed, for me I would keep the balancer shafts if the engine was stock plus also as mentioned would be an absolute pain in the arse to do with engine in place, and people usually only remove engines for rebuilds which usually means forging in most cases

Engine is stock just getting all belts done so should be bk on the road Monday night

Customer of mine has his go and took out the crank shaft sensor and main belt had jumped teeth, fitted new belts and sensor and did a compression test and was fine.

by removing the balance shafts you wont really notice any change with the running of the car however, it is a big job to remove them i.e the engine has to come out although some people claim they have removed them with the engine still in place just depends how experience, good a mechaninc is. on all evos 1 to 9 its a common problem for the balance shaft belt to fail that's why people remove the shafts when doing a engine rebuild forging etc.. if your budget is tight then just refit with new belts and tensioners, and don't remove the balance shafts. you can get a balance shaft eliminator kit which you use when removing the shafts. maybe a high labour cost to remove the shafts, but well worth the piece of mind knowing its one less thing to go wrong with your engine. If ever the engine is removed from the car then that is an ideal opportunity to carry out the balance shaft removal. hope you get your car sorted and back on road pal.

Its in the garage the now the mechanic said hes just changing the belts will the tensioners need done as well as the belts money is tight due to the kid just been born but after am bk on my feet it won't be
