Right then, been struggling to get gears when stationary lately so had to pull the box out to investigate and as summer is on its way its the right time to give the bay a freshen up ahead of the shows an thought what the hell, let's drop the engine out with it and do cambelt as well :)

As you can see one of the spring plates has broken off and have also worn into the pressure plate too. Also not looking in best condition so will be replacing these with new items :)

Then found the next issue, seems the pin that goes through the clutch for has corroded and so partially seized together resulting in the clutch fork not being able to travel its full distance there for not disengageing the clutch properly resulting in clutch drag.
Also because of the corrosion and so lack of movement in the clutch fork there has been extra strain on the mounting points the pin locates in and so has cracked off.
Lucky I found this issue before the casting broke off of its own accord and left me stuck on roadside. New bell housing and clutch fork etc required

Also while the engine is out couple of manifold studs are leaking oil so cleaning it all up and re seal and now ready for new cambelt :)

Having to make time mate really.
Didn't want to have to pull the box out but glad I did cos that bit of casting was just waiting to fall off.
Going to spa again this year so making sure the car is tip top :)

Indeed mate, could of left it then been stranded in motorway again well if it made it that far. Was only a matter if time before the clutch fork fell out :)

Yea the bay needs a clean too so ideal time and wanted to do cambelt as well so easier just to drop the whole lot out drive shafts still in and transfer too. Just drop the lot straight out the bottom with crane then wheel it out from under car and its all easier to work on :)
