Changed the power steering pump on my Evo today,
The power steering works again but whines when the revs go above idle.....really badly
The fluid level is fine and we have done everything necessary to bleed it
When you first turn the car on and it idles it is silent, even when you turn lock to lock, but any slight increase in Rpm and it comes back

Any ideas???

Was the new pump new or used m8. If u have bled it properly it should be ok.

It's used mate but from martin@evosalvage
Yeah defo bled properly I come to the
Conclusion that the used pump was also faulty :(
I checked all seals etc to check if air was being drawn in but no leaks

Very annoying

its one of those bloody things, the pump was taken off a high powered evo 8 which had a bottom end failure so was working fine but you can never tell whats gone wrong with it. never mind, new one on its way to you.

wouldn't care i buy cars that drive in before breaking them as that way it reduces incidences like this, well thats the theory anyway

As I've said before Martin you have been fantastic to deal with and have sorted every problem I have had quickly. So thanks for your help mate.

Yes I used new oils and we spent more than enough time trying to bleed it, over the course of two days lol

did you hold the s/wheel on full lock for a while in both directions to you hear the pump whining??

I tried to bleed it the first time like any standard car (lock to lock etc) then spoke to Simon Norris and he said that's not the best way to bleed my car it will self bleed after ticking over for a certain amount of time so we pretty much tried everything mate ;)
