Hey guys, just signed upto the forum, well... I signed up yesterday. but you know what I mean. :whistling:

Looking to purchase my first Evo and it will be the second car that I've owned. Im still new to the world of Evo's, apart from admiring them in the street for years I don't really know a whole lot about them although I do know that I MUST own one. I'm still trying to learn the difference between the generations. Telling apart an Evo VI to an Evo VIII baffles me currently haha  So this is why I decided to join a forum and to meet like minded enthusiasts of course.

Im not looking to rush into purchasing an Evo straight away, want to do my research first, find the best model for me etc. Also just gives me another couple of months to save up abit more cash. I've seen one that I've fell in love with on Autotrader and keep going back for another look at it, but I have to keep talking myself out of jumping in to soon. Ideally Im looking for something 06 plate or older and around 40,000 miles.

This is the autotrader car:

Mitsubishi Lancer 2.0 FQ-300 RALLY ART FULL SERVICE HISTORY 4dr 2007

And NO before anyone says it, Yellow is NOT a girls colour haha. According to confused.com during an insurance quote that is an Evo VII. I didn't know they made them as late as 07 plate?

Damn, this is turning into an essay. Sorry about that, but not really. :whistling: Suppose I should introduce myself properly aswell eh; Im Danny, almost 22 . I work in a hospital and Im also a University student studying BioMedical Science. So Im abit (a lot) of a science geek.

Thats about it!

Cheers,
Danny.

Thanks. Thats what I thought with the roman numerals on the back reading "IX". But confused.com reckons its an "Evo VII"

Odd. Anyways I presume thats a really good price then for a 9? As the rest seem to be really expensive. Or do yellow ones depreciate more? haha

You can group the IV, V VI together and the VII, VIII, IX together as they are largely the same platform, but with each one being better than the last. The IX is the best "classic" evo, and yellow is the best colour for it :) (my X is the same yellow as the IX, it's more vibrant and brighter than the other yellows). That's one sweet-ass car in that advert, looks mint, low miles, fairly decent price too. The seller doesn't know much about evos though, a few pieces of kak in that advert, but as long as the car is straight it doesn't matter. I'd do an HPI check first though.

PS here's a tip too....when you post a link to a car on autotrader it includes your postcode :)

Ahhh sweet. Yeah I thought the yellow seemed more vibrant but just perhaps thought it was possibly the camera used and light conditions. But that's good to know as generally thought the other yellow ones looked abit too washed out.

What are the pieces of kak? The 1 of 8 thing?

Welcome along

Thanks.

Yeah don't worry that's one of the first things I checked before getting too excited. The evo 9 in my first post is only £1219 a year fully comp to be exact. Which is only £400 more than what I'm paying now on a 1.6 Astra with 3 years no claims.

Apart from the 1 in 8 thing, it is RalliArt not Rally Art and the IX doesn't have traction control. There are probably other things too, didn't read it that thoroughly.

Welcome to the forum Danny.

That IX looks very nice especially in yellow :)

Thats a very reasonable insurance quote. Dont forget to add on the Scorpion exhaust when getting quotes.

Thanks, yeah I think the yellow looks great. Ahh yeah I forgot to add the scorpion exhaust. Lets see how much this bumps the quote up by. Lots I imagine. If it comes to it, I'll have to swap it for a standard one!

Just to add, does anybody know why the Evo 9 in my first post seems to be registered as an Evo 7?

EDIT: Just manually changed the insurance quote manually to represent an 07 plate Evo IX fq-300 and the price jumps up by £500.

Its more than likely a system glitch. I checked on gocompare and it comes up as a Evo IX.

Also speak to Pace Ward as they are generally good with Evo insurance.

Welcome also then buddy! Have you found an evo yet?

Yeah I think it maybe depends on age, because Adrian Flux won't touch me. I am abit younger with 25% your no claims but nope, never mind. Admiral seem to be my best, which are also my current insurer so thats handy.

Haha you mean you're big friends with the old bill then haha.

Hiya and welcome!

thank you! :)

Welcome along mte to the chill room! Some great guys on here that are only to willing to help out in anyway.

Enjoy your Evo fella!

Cheers buddy, yeah I love the feel of this forum. It's so chilled but everyones so friendly too. And there isn't the bitterness that seems to be present on alot of forums these days, sadly.

I certainly will enjoy it, thanks!

Hi spuddy I have had my 9 since new (2006) most company's would insure me but was so supprised that as soon as I did my first mod 95% of insurers would then not even entertain the idea of quoting so just be careful if you have mods in mind buddy
