Hi all!

Just joined today looks to be a great site! I will apologise off the bat that i can't spell for toffee so if you think that a 6 year old has hacked into someone's account posting on here it will be me sorry!
I have a evo 9 gsr FQ320 and just booked my first track day and wanted to know if anyone knows of any potential probs with thrashing the car for half an hour none stop round silverstone will over heating be and issue? or is something else likely to let go on me. Just a bit of info on the car which might help with answers

1. 3" exhaust
2. HKS air filter
3. warlbro 255 fuel pump
4. forged con rods
5. 1.2 metal head gasket
6. chip
405bhp/393lb/ft

First your car is not a GSR if its a FQ 320
Best thing you can do is buy your self a baffled sump if it don't have one already
Chances are you will hurt something tracking it

Take it easy its not racing

cheers for the reply billy!this is why i have joined here to learn and chat to like minded people! i was under the impresion (from the sales man) it was a gsr but it is defo an FQ not that clearly i could tell the difference if i got run over by both!! what is the difference?

If you post up a few pictures we can tell you exactly what you have?
If its a FQ it will have a build no. Near the gear stick ( a little plaque )
The GSR is the import and the FQ is a uk car ( but is an Import but sold as uk cars )
What makes you think it's a FQ ?

You've left out the most important things It's unlikely your tyres or brakes will survive a solid half hour without overheating (I'm assuming they are standard or fast road seeing as you left out what they are). As long as you do shorter sessions of 15 - 20 mins maybe with time for the car (and you) to cool down you should be fine. If something is going to go it'll most likely be your brakes overheating and going spongy and not working until they've had time to cool. You really want to come off before they overheat though as it doesn't do the fluid much good.

Thanks for the replys guys It does have that number by the gear stick and I had It de/badged to get rid of the FQ and lancer that the factory put all over it like playing a game of pin the tail on the donkey! The brakes are standard discs with carbotec xp 10 pads. Another thing the sales man at Mitsubishi said when I bought it new was that the colour I got it in was a limited addition paint with only 17 made for the country (electric blue) could this be true or is this another tall story by the sales man?

15-20 mins on track, that's plenty long enough. Tyres will overheat in that time and end up like toffee
Be sure to do a 1 lap cool down to get the heat out the brakes before you stop and fill oil to just above the max line before you start.

A baffled sump isn't a must have item, if you don't have one just over fill the oil a little.

They were made in pretty much equal numbers, a couple of hundred each. You do tend to see more black/white/grey ones but I'm not sure if that is more of a reflection on the colours of cars people prefer to own rather than the numbers made. But basically the salesman was BSing you. People are also often told their FQs are "limited editions" and all sorts of other rubbish.

yes mate i had one, trim level is much nicer but turbo is a 9.8 hotside, where MR is 10.5, other bits too, roof etc
