What is concidered to be the best filters, Cold Air Intakes, or Short Ram Intake, if so what one is the one to aim for.

THe HKS Mushroom filter has been proven to be shit, and Ryan from 2Bartuning saw a 300bhp, yes 300 bhp imrovment on a GTR skyline running 1200 bhp simply by removing the HKS filter. And there is one of these on a Evo 6 im looking.

So need to line up a decent filter.

Whats my options. cheers guys and girls

Matt

300bhp just by removing an air filter ...... lmfao

Yep, he tunes some top flight GTR's over in Saudi arabia for some Arab Prince. Then they closed off some highways so they could be tested at full speed runs and live mapped.

Mock all you want, simply call Ryan at 2Bartuning and ask him. he's a nice chap. Tuned my Celica for me and is highly regarded in the Toyota community for Supras, MR2's and Celicas.

So yeah, when he tells me the Blitz mushroom filters are shit, i will believ him.

Removing a filter to fit a different one and then tuning it again to gain 300bhp extra is different to your original statement. And to gain 300bhp just by changing a filter and retuning is still extreme. The original tune must have been appalling to start with :D

I have a nice pipercross filter for sale ;)

Other than that k&n, itg, blitz or apexi. All good quality filters.

300bho from removing a hks? Not sure on that.. Air flow though them is really good. The issue is that they don't make a very good filter as most the dirt gets sucked though lol

So best to go for full kit then not just standard box? What can I go for without changing the battery position ? Or is it easy to do ?

Panel filter is the cheaper option, depends what you after. Battery relocation is easy enough, depends where you would want to put it. There are kits out there to put the batter where the air box is, so the same place as on a 7-9 then use the intake off the later car to have the filter behind the head light.

Rather the battery in the boot..

All I wanna do is keep it pretty standard I want full exhaust system decent airfilter and a good remap I see something about boost or 3 port boost things what are they for ?

Better panel filter will give improvements, there is a lack of space for a big air filter but the blitz would fit. You will need a better fuel pump as well for remap. Three port is a replacement boost solenoid. When the ecu is remapped you can fit one to control boost. Cheap and effective boost controller.

Yesterday I removed my HKS pannel filter and had the car dyno'd it went from 406 bhp to 709 bhp so this does work!

I can get dyno sheet
