idiots detailing guide

i have taken my Evo 8 to mallorca, as i now live there, i am looking to do all the detailing etc myself
i'm not to comfortable using a deatailing/polisher( BUT RATHER WOULD) as think i would ruin the paint,
so i'm looking for a step by step guide from start to finish,

obviously the cleaning is the easy bit its the after part i'm looking for, as i have small swirls in the paintwork too that need rectifying, and possible a wax for over the winter

also what products, i have used autoglym pretty much all the time but what is the best product within auto glym for the specific jobs,
eg filler etc?
