Engine Bay Dress Up

I'm looking at potentialy 'dressing' up the engine bay of my IX and wanted to know if anyone has had their rocker cover re-furbed in a different colour.... if so where did you get it done?

Can anyone recommend any other subtle touches that would make it look at little cleaner?

I've seen the clear cam covers which I like but apart from that have no idea what else to go for.

I did my own rocker cover! But there are plenty of powder coating and paint shops that can do it for u!

Just make sure they don't paint the inside!!!!!! No a few people who have had them done and the company's did inside too, which then preceded to peel off and get in the oil pump blocked it and caused bottom end and turbo faliers and big bills!

what paint did you use mate, im thinking of doing mine myself, mmh i wouldnt see the point in doing the inside anyway, you dnt see it :razz:

Don't know why people do inside either?

Used normal rattle cans for colour, over etch primer.
Lacquered with petrol resistant lacquer!

Been fine no peeling or discolouration from the heat

cool mate, so did you sand down the cover or did you just spray primer straight onto it? and how long has it been since you sprayed it.
any close up pics mate just to clarify what itll sorta look like cheers

I had my local engine builders acid dip and wash it first before painting!
It's been done over 6 months!
Will see if I can find a decent pick and post for u!

i wouldnt bother tarting your engine bay up, leave it standard like mine

Get a Scratch Pad and key your rocker cover and then use ecthing primer and sand it with P800 wet & dry using water to smooth it then paint with several light coats of the colour of your choice and lacquer it for gloss finish and protection.
