New to Evo(IV) I am from Canada and need help

I just need to know the recommended oil type. I am reading different things from people but the consensus is 10W-30. But my weather here CAN dip down to -30 degrees Celsius.

Also any other information regarding these vehicles that I should know would be of great help. (a great site for parts, performance etc.)

I was looking at the Blitz nur spec r cat back and also there front pipe(downpipe?) Would this work for the whole exhaust system or would I need a test pipe?

Hi and welcome. Everyone has a different opinion on oils so is going to be a tricky one!

Blitz NUR spec sound very good. You should be ok with the complete exhaust (downpipe back) if you're going to modify your evo

So in your "opinion" would I be alright with using 10-30W? I use it in my RX-7 and it works out just fine. Or should I do the 10w-40 for that higher temp viscosity?

Also with the full turbo back exhaust should I be worrying about the engine running lean? and if so do I have to pick up a newer models ecu?

Sorry I have a lot of questions just wanna get my facts straight before I start ordering out of the UK to Canada I can't find anything for sale here in North America and I do not trust the idiots where I live for a custom exhaust.

You should be ok with 10w30 but I'd also consider 5w30 or even 5w40.

If you're thinking of modifyiing your car anyway, I'd get a later ecu, fuel pump, 560cc injectors, 3 port boost solenoid and have the car mapped when all the bits are fitted

Where in Canada you from, I used to live in the Yukon so I've seen them temps, you not running heater pads on the critical parts?

It will be heated garage stored all winter and only driven when absolutely needed. Won't be left outside foe extended periods. Last year it barely dipped below -15. But just in case could you send me a link for the pads?

flashing stuff and mapping.(I have no idea..)

Welcome from 30min away. I've an evo4 in spruce grove and there is one more in stonyplain.
Last winter the week we had of -30 or less nearly killed my evo one. outside with no block heater. starter got locked in and burned out a bit. This year I'll be putting heat on the evo4 before winter.

I'm running 5w20 purple right now. switching to 5w30 amsoil next change. 5/30 seems to help get the top lubricated better and the lifters are not as noisy. I personally think the 10 might be a bit thick for this engine in our winters.

I already bought some castrol 5W-40 so I'm going to give it a try. Definitely will buy a heating pad for winter.

no I haven't had it coated yet but I do plan on doing it.
I get my oil filters at westside mitsubishi. they have full japanese catalog and are very JDM friendly.

I went with just the synthetic fram filter but I will definitely go to westside next time! What else can they provide for our vehicles(parts etc.)?

I decided to go with the 5W-40 and it seems to be working out great. I love lancers, easiest oil change. Ever.
